Stress can also complicate your ability to recover in case of a serious illness. A Swedish study found that women who have suffered heart attacks tend to have less chance of recovery if they are also experiencing marital stress such as infidelity, alcohol abuse, or the couple’s physical or psychiatric illness. On the other hand, stress management training is a proven method to help a speedy recovery after a heart attack.
What can you do
Learning to deal with stress effectively is a worthwhile effort, even if you already consider yourself capable of handling any situation that life presents you.
